Adding user reviews and testimonials to your website can have a positive impact on your search engine rankings, while enhancing the overall credibility and sales of your website. Reviews provide an opportunity of your website visitors to learn from previous customers, while providing you with fresh user generated content, which search engines love. User reviews have the same selling power as a testimonial. If you offer a product or service, other user reviews can help increase sales. People find comfort in knowing that others have used the product or service with good results. Adding the ability for users to post feedback on your website is an effective approach to maintaining fresh current. Each user review adds original content to your website that is often keyword rich. User generated content if free and tends to be favored by search engines because it is seen as authentic.

Valid, properly written HTML allows search engines to easily read your Website content and underlying HTML code. Much like the English language, there is a right way and a wrong way to write the code that structures your Web pages. The World Web Consortium (W3C), an international group that works to develop protocols and guidelines that ensure the long-term growth of the Web, had developed standards for HTML development. Web browser developers like Mozilla and Microsoft adhere to these standards to guarantee cross-browser uniformity when displaying websites. Search engines read websites line by line and errors in your HTML syntax can trigger a penalty if the code prevents the search engine spider from reading the content. Invalid code can cause websites to look different from browser to browser. Valid HTML also tends to reduce the overall amount of code on your website. Optimize you website my by not having excess markup surrounding your main page content. Less markup code means a higher percentage of your page size is actual content.

When optimizing your website, you should strategically place one or two target keywords in the title tag of your webpage, as well as in the description and keyword meta tags. Your selected keywords should ideally be the starting point used to generate the content for each webpage you construct. If not, you should make sure that your target keywords are strategically sprinkled throught the page. When you are building backlinks to your pages, keep the target keywords for each page in mind. Be realistic when you select your head terms, and evaluate the competition. Picking broad head terms that have established web sites ranking for them within the top few search results is setting yourself up for failure if you are starting from scratch with a nonestablished domain.
